Now, More Than Ever

Weekly Readiness Brief

October 9, 2025

Today’s Focus

Keep it simple. Reduce what can go wrong at home, on the road, and during daily routines. Small steps add up fast.

  • Test your safe. Confirm access works the first time. Check batteries.
  • Restock your first aid. Replace anything used or expired.
  • Charge what you depend on. Phone. Power bank. Flashlight.

Home Checklist

  • Walk your house. Note any doors or windows that stick.
  • Set a fixed home for your keys and wallet.
  • Stage a small light by each bed.
  • Safe storage habit. Open, verify, close. Same rhythm every time.

Vehicle Checklist

  • Quarter tank is empty. Top off today.
  • Glove box: insurance, registration, small flashlight.
  • Trunk: IFAK, water, blanket, duct tape, nitrile gloves.
  • Tires: look for uneven wear and sidewall cuts.

Skill of the Week: Stop the Bleed

  1. Call for help.
  2. Gloves if you have them.
  3. Find the source. Expose the wound if safe.
  4. Firm pressure with gauze. Do not peek. Keep pressing.
  5. If bleeding is severe or on a limb, apply a tourniquet above the wound. Tighten until bleeding stops. Note the time.

Practice the steps with your kit so it feels natural.
